Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury has arrived in Dhaka in the afternoon on Monday to join the Bangladesh national team ahead of their upcoming fixtures, a friendly against Nepal on 13 November and the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier return leg against India on 18 November at the National Stadium, Dhaka.
Choudhury was originally scheduled to land at midday but reached later in the afternoon due to a missed flight.
The 27-year-old defensive midfielder, born in Loughborough, England, to a Bangladeshi mother and Grenadian father, is a key figure in Bangladesh's rebuilding process.
A product of Leicester City's academy, Choudhury has made over 100 senior appearances for the Premier League club. He represented England at youth level before committing his international future to Bangladesh in late 2024.
His debut came in March 2025 against India in Shillong, a goalless draw that marked the start of his journey in red and green.Since then, Choudhury has featured in five matches for Bangladesh, scoring two goals, including a standout header against Bhutan in a friendly. His presence has added discipline, composure, and a higher tactical awareness to the midfield.
Although both Bangladesh and India are already out of contention for qualification to the next stage, the upcoming fixture has stirred huge enthusiasm among local fans. The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) confirmed that all tickets for the India match have been sold out well in advance.
