Travel ban on ex-MP Kazi Nabil

 
A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Jessore-3 lawmaker Kazi Nabil Ahmed and ordered the freezing of his movable and immovable assets in connection with a corruption and money laundering case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Foyez issued the order on Sunday after hearing a petition from ACC Assistant Director Al-Amin, the investigating officer in the case. According to the ACC, Nabil abused his position to acquire Tk 7.35 crore in illegal assets inconsistent with his known income. Investigators also detected Tk 109.22 crore in suspicious transactions through 45 bank accounts, allegedly involving money laundering.

The court ordered the attachment of several properties, including: A six-storey building with 11 decimals of land in Dhanmondi worth Tk 2.29 crore; A flat at Charuta Homes Ltd in Gulshan valued at Tk 4.46 crore; 195 decimals of land in Mohammadpur worth Tk 66 lakh; 99.2391 acres of land in Tetulia, Panchagarh.
