Dhaka University's (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan said, July uprising has left lasting imprint on Bangladesh's social and political history.
He said this during two-day international conference titled 'Philosophy of Awakening in Thoughts of Iqbal and Nazrul' on Sunday at Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building.
DU VC emphasised university community develops primarily through networks of intellect, innovation and collaborative scholarship. He noted international conferences enrich scope of academic exchange and cooperation. "This is not only academic discussion but also unique celebration of networking and human values. Events like this strengthen our bonds and cooperation," Dr Khan stated.
Commemorating lives and philosophies of Allama Iqbal and Kazi Nazrul Islam, VC said, "Their thoughts and actions have deeply influenced our society, literature and human consciousness. I believe this conference will offer new insights and practical guidance from their philosophy."
Addressing July mass uprising, he remarked, "In Bangladesh's social and political history, July uprising has left lasting impact. Main theme of this conference, Philosophy of Awakening, is therefore timely and significant. Connecting this context with thought of Iqbal and Nazrul will deepen our intellectual discussions."
