29 new DCs appointed in last 2 days

The government has appointed new deputy commissioners (DCs) in 29 districts over the past two days in a major reshuffle of field administration ahead of 13th National Parliamentary Election.

Among them, 14 DCs were appointed on Sunday, while 15 others were reassigned or replaced on Saturday night.

The reshuffle comes as part of government’s preparation for the upcoming polls, where DCs play a crucial role as returning officers during election process.

According to a notification from Ministry of Public Administration, Sunday’s appointments include Narail DC Sharmin Akhter Jahan, who has been transferred to Brahmanbaria; Department of Environment Director Md Abdullah Al Masud, appointed DC of Jhenaidah; Meherpur DC Mohammad Abdul Salam, reassigned to Narail and Khulna Zonal Settlement Officer of Directorate of Land Records and Surveys, Md Yousuf Ali, appointed DC of Jamalpur.

Other appointments include Home Ministry Deputy Secretary Lutfun Nahar (Meherpur), Dhaka South City Corporation’s Chief Revenue Officer Mohammad Aslam Mollah (Kishoreganj), Directorate of Nursing and Midwifery Director Md Momin Uddin (Jhalakathi) and Home Ministry Deputy Secretary Md Arif-uz-Zaman (Gopalganj).

Additionally, Economic Relations Division Deputy Secretary Mohammad Kamal Hossain was made DC of Chuadanga; Housing and Public Works Ministry Deputy Secretary Kazi Md Sayemuzzaman (Panchagarh); Chief Adviser’s Office Director Md Al Mamun Mia (Joypurhat); Agriculture Ministry Deputy Secretary Md Saifur Rahman (Mymensingh); Khagrachhari Local Government Deputy Director Nazmun Ara Sultana (Manikganj); and PMO Director Md Nazmul Islam Sarkar (Chandpur).

On Saturday, the ministry also appointed new DCs in Dhaka, Khulna, Gazipur, Bogura, Noakhali and several other districts. Six DCs were transferred to new postings, while nine new officers were promoted to the position.

Among the key transfers, Barguna DC Mohammad Shafiul Alam was moved to Dhaka, Bagerhat DC Ahmed Kamrul Hasan to Noakhali, Kushtia DC Abu Hasan Mohammad Arifin to Habiganj, Bhola DC Md Azad Zahan to Gazipur, Sirajganj DC Muhammad Nazrul Islam to Gaibandha, and Khulna DC Md Taufiqur Rahman to Bogura.

Newly appointed DCs include Sandwip Kumar Singh (Barguna), Aminul Islam (Sirajganj), Abdullah Al Mahmud (Magura), Abu Sayeed (Pirojpur), Afroza Akhter (Satkhira), Golam Md Baten (Bagerhat), SM Jamshed Khondoker (Khulna), Md Iqbal Hossain (Kushtia) and Shamim Rahman (Bhola).
