Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) arranged it's 189th public hearing in Panchagarh with the slogan 'Let's build a country together, a corruption-free Bangladesh' on Sunday.
The event, organised by Thakurgaon Integrated District Office of ACC, took place at Panchagarh District Government Auditorium.
ACC Commissioner (Investigation) Mian Muhammad Ali Akbar Azizi attended as the chief guest.
“To build a corruption-free society, we must first change our mindset. Reform should begin at home. To create an honest social environment, we must avoid personal greed and ensure others are not deprived of their rights. Teachers should also deliver anti-corruption messages in classrooms to raise awareness among future generations,” said Akbar Azizi.
The hearing was chaired by Panchagarh Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Sabet Ali. ACC Director General (Prevention) Md Akhtar Hossain, Rangpur Divisional ACC Director Mohammad Nurul Huda, Thakurgaon Integrated Office Deputy Director Sheikh Golam Maula and Panchagarh Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Munshi spoke at the event, among others
A total of 181 complaints were filed against 18 government, autonomous and private departments. Among these, 118 scheduled complaints were heard during the session.
Aggrieved citizens, who alleged harassment or deprivation of services at government offices, presented their wants directly before the commission in presence of departmental heads. ACC took instant decisions on several of the complaints.
Officials said main goal of the public hearing was to ensure access to government services and promote integrity, accountability and moral values, ultimately eradicating corruption from all sectors of society.
