Dear Sir,
Health represents complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and physicians play a vital role in ensuring it. However, when degree-holding doctors fail to uphold professional and ethical standards, medical malpractice occurs, causing serious harm to patients and society. Such malpractice includes misdiagnosis, unnecessary surgeries, medication errors, poor hygiene, and unethical financial motives.
In Bangladesh, malpractice persists despite the presence of qualified doctors, due to overcrowded hospitals, limited technology, and weak enforcement of medical ethics. Educational limitations, lack of experience, and excessive workloads increase the likelihood of mistakes, while rural areas remain especially vulnerable.
To reduce malpractice, continuous professional training, ethical regulation, and strict accountability are essential. Introducing modern technologies such as electronic records and telemedicine can improve diagnosis and monitoring. Equally, patient awareness must be strengthened so individuals understand their rights and participate in treatment decisions.
