Locals and students in Rangpur staged a human chain on Sunday to protest alleged medical negligence at Rangpur Medical College Hospital and demand an investigation into Dr Tofayel Bhuiyan over allegations of medical malpractice.

The demonstration, held in front of Rangpur Press Club, saw participation from students of various educational institutions.

Speakers included Nahid Hasan Khondakar, city unit spokesperson of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, along with Mahmub Hasan Tanmoy, Asif Mahmud and Rayan.

Protesters accused Dr. Bhuiyan of misdiagnosing a stroke as a brain tumour, calling for a formal inquiry into the incident.

They also criticized poor management in both public and private hospitals in Rangpur, claiming it has disrupted healthcare services and increased fatalities due to medical errors.

The demonstrators warned that if authorities fail to take action, student community and locals will escalate their protests.
