The Chattogram Hill Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP) Chittagong University (CU) branch organised a reception for the newcomers, senior farewell and CUCSU Hall Parliament winners at CU Law Faculty Auditorium on Saturday afternoon.

Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Yahya Akhtar was present as the chief guest at the event.

In his speech as the chief guest, CU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Yahya Akhtar congratulated the elected candidates and said, "Those who have been elected are not only the leaders of the Paharis but also the leaders of 28,000 students of CU. You keep calling yourself Pahari; call yourself Bangladeshi. Because first of all, we are all Bangladeshis. Don't limit yourself to three districts. You also have to understand the culture of others."

He also said, “Our dream will be successful when the university produces qualified graduates. The university is not a factory for producing leaders, but a factory for producing qualified graduates.”

“After taking charge of the administration, we have tried our best to enhance the academic image of the university. We are continuing our efforts to recruit qualified teachers and produce qualified students. We believe that if qualified teachers are recruited, qualified graduates will be produced. Everyone will benefit from this,” he added.

CU Proctor Professor Dr Hossain Shahid Sarwardy, Director of CU Student Counselling and Guidance Center Dr Md Anwar Hossain, and Assistant Professor of CU Islamic History and Culture Department Munmun Nesa Chowdhury were present as special guests at the event.
