NATORE, Nov 6: With the aim of expanding fish production in local ponds, rivers, and other water bodies, the Fisheries Department in Bagatipara Upazila provided training to 40 fish farmers on modern cultivation methods.
The day-long training was held on Wednesday at the Upazila Fisheries office and was organized under the revenue sector for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
A team of experts led the sessions, including Md. Omar Ali, Natore District Fisheries Officer; Murad Hossain Pramanik, Senior Fisheries Officer of Baraigram Upazila; Md. Abu Syeed, Senior Fisheries Officer of Natore Sadar; S.M. Mahamudul Hasan, Fisheries Officer of Bagatipara Upazila; and Md. Ashek, Fish Extension Officer of Bagatipara.
The training covered key aspects of modern aquaculture, including advanced fish cultivation techniques, disease prevention, effective pond management, the selection of high-quality fish species, and feed management.
In his address, Md. Omar Ali, District Fisheries Officer, stated, "The aim of the present government is to strengthen the rural economy. In this regard, the fisheries sector plays an important role. These trainings will empower our fish farmers to be more successful and productive."
The programme concluded with a practical demonstration, as Md. Omar Ali released fish fry into a pond belonging to local farmer Md. Bappy Ali in Ekdala Village under Natore Sadar Upazila. The event was attended by all the trainees.
