Trading at both the Dhaka and Chattogram stock exchanges began on a bearish note Thursday, as most company shares lost value in the early hours of trading.
At the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the benchmark DSEX index fell by 49 points, while the Shariah-based DSES dropped 11 points and the blue-chip DS30 index slipped 10 points.
Of the traded issues, 316 companies saw price declines, 36 advanced, and 35 remained unchanged. Shares and units worth over Tk 180 crore changed hands during the first half of the session.
A similar trend was observed at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), where the overall index fell by 50 points. Prices of 65 companies decreased, 29 gained, and 28 remained unchanged, with the turnover crossing Tk 5.4 crore in the first half of trading.
