AG Asaduzzaman to resign to contest Jhinaidah-1 seat

Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman announced on Wednesday that he will resign from his post to contest the Jhinaidah-1 constituency in the 13th national parliamentary election.

Speaking to journalists at his office, the chief law officer said, "I will contest the poll. I have sought nomination from the Jhinaidah-1 constituency. I will resign from my post as attorney general before contesting the election. I will do it when the time comes."

When asked who might succeed him as attorney general, Asaduzzaman replied, "Whom Bangladesh considers."Md Asaduzzaman was appointed as the country's attorney general on August 8 last year. He served as Human Rights Affairs Secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
