Dhaka University (DU) has maintained its position as country's leading higher education institution in the latest QS Asia University Rankings 2025.
The prestigious ranking, released on Tuesday by UK-based Quacquarelli Symonds, places DU at 132nd in Asia and 17th across South Asia.
This marks the second consecutive year that Dhaka University has topped the rankings amongst Bangladeshi universities. The achievement was confirmed through an official press release signed by Farukh Mahmud, Deputy Director of DU's Public Relations Office, on Wednesday.
The annual QS Asia rankings assessed 1,529 universities this year, with the University of Hong Kong securing first place, followed by China's Peking University.
The evaluation primarily focused on academic performance, the proportion of PhD holders amongst faculty, and international student enrolment rates.
Beyond regional success, DU currently holds the 584th position in QS's worldwide rankings.
