3 IU students expelled for assaulting journos

Three students of the Economics Department at Islamic University (IU) have been expelled from all academic activities and their residential halls for two semesters over the assault and harassment of journalists on the university football field.

The expelled students are Nahid Hasan (Roll: 2007078), Afsana Parvin Tina (Roll: 2007051), and Riaz Morshed (Roll: 2007020), all from the 2020-21 academic session.

According to separate office orders issued Wednesday, IU acting registrar Prof Dr Manjurul Haque said the syndicate approved the decision at its 271st meeting on October 30, based on an investigation report submitted earlier.
Nine other students involved in the July 12 incident were issued warning notices and cautioned against repeating such behavior.

The scuffle occurred during an inter-session football match when three journalists were assaulted and one's mobile phone was snatched.
