Agricultural incentive program was launched in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Tuesday, as part of the government’s agricultural development initiative.
The event, organised by the Upazila Agriculture Office, featured the distribution of seeds, fertilisers and other agricultural materials among local farmers.
Under this year’s program, a total of 5,195 farmers will receive free seeds and chemical fertilisers. The distribution includes 3,500 mustard farmers, 1,200 Boro paddy farmers, 200 wheat farmers, 155 lentil farmers, 70 sunflower farmers and 70 peanut farmers.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Upazila Farmers’ Training Center, presided over by Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Jahangir Alam Liton and conducted by Assistant Plant Protection Officer Parimal Chandra Dutta.
Nabinagar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Khalid Bin Monsur attended the event as the chief guest, while Nabinagar Press Club President Mohammad Hossain Shanti was present as the special guest.
Speakers at the event said the government’s incentive program will play a vital role in reducing farmers’ production costs and increasing crop yields.
They added that the initiative will encourage farmers to adopt modern technologies, boost productivity and move toward self-sufficiency in agriculture.
Farmers from various unions of the upazila participated in the event and welcomed the government’s initiative.
