The Supreme Court’s Full Court meeting has decided to promote more than 300 judges from subordinate courts across the country to the position of district judge.
The decision was made on Tuesday afternoon during a Full Court meeting attended by all Supreme Court judges.
According to multiple sources, the meeting also approved the promotion of over 200 judges to the rank of Additional District Judge.
The meeting, presided over by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed, took place from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, during which more than 20 agenda items were discussed.
However, due to time constraints, the court’s annual judicial calendar was not finalized.
Sources said the Full Court also discussed the case of Judge Kamrunnahar, who had previously lost her judicial authority after granting bail to an accused in the Raintree case, despite a Supreme Court restriction. The Judicial Administration Committee (J.A. Committee) has been tasked with reviewing whether her judicial powers should be restored.
Most judges from both the Appellate and High Court Divisions were present at the meeting, which reviewed key administrative and disciplinary matters within the judiciary.
