The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has ordered DNA tests of Chapainawabganj's Nachol Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Kamal Hossain and his family members to verify allegations that he fraudulently used his uncle’s identity as his parents to secure a government job under the freedom fighter quota.
The decision was confirmed on Tuesday (November 4) by ACC Director General (Investigation) Akhtar Hossain, who said the commission received credible allegations that Kamal Hossain obtained his position through deceit.
According to the ACC complaint, Kamal Hossain, a 35th batch BCS (Administration) officer, is the biological son of Md Abul Kashem and Habiya Khatun.
However, he allegedly listed his uncle Md Ahsan Habib, a decorated freedom fighter, and aunt Sanoara Khatun as his parents to unlawfully benefit from the freedom fighter quota for university admission and later, in his civil service recruitment.
The ACC stated that to ensure a fair investigation, the inquiry officer has applied to conduct DNA tests on Kamal Hossain, his biological parents, and his uncle and aunt. The commission has granted permission for the test, which will proceed subject to court approval.
An ACC official said the DNA analysis will be crucial in confirming whether Kamal Hossain falsified his parentage records to exploit the quota system.
Earlier, on December 26, 2024, the ACC filed a case against Kamal Hossain, accusing him of fraud, forgery, and misuse of a fake freedom fighter certificate. The investigation remains ongoing.
