Four more people have died from dengue in the 24 hours till Tuesday morning, bringing the total number of deaths from the mosquito-borne disease this year to 292, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 1,101 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, raising the total number of reported cases in 2025 to 73,923.
DGHS data shows the divisional distribution of new cases as follows: 151 in Barishal, 125 in Chattogram, 208 in Dhaka Division (outside the capital), 241 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 175 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 59 in Khulna, 75 in Mymensingh, 45 in Rajshahi, 19 in Rangpur and three in Sylhet.
Dengue fatalities and infections continue to strain healthcare services across Bangladesh as the number of hospitalisations rises sharply in both urban and rural areas.
Last year, 575 people died of dengue, while 2023 remains the deadliest year on record with 1,705 deaths.
That year, Bangladesh recorded 321,179 infections and 318,749 recoveries, according to DGHS figures.
