Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced candidates for 237 constituencies in the first phase ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will contest from Dinajpur-3, Bogura-7, and Feni-1. Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will contest from Bogura-6, while Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will run from Thakurgaon-3.

The candidate list was read out at a press conference by Mirza Fakhrul at the Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Monday afternoon.

Earlier, BNP’s Standing Committee members held an emergency meeting at 12:30 PM to finalise candidates and discuss political strategies amid the ongoing situation. Tarique Rahman presided over the five-hour-long meeting virtually from London.

The national parliamentary election is scheduled for the first half of February 2026, with the Election Commission expected to announce the official schedule in early December.
