South Korea, Thailand leaders discuss strategic partnership ahead of APEC summit

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and visiting Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul held talks on Thursday in Gyeongju ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting scheduled for Oct. 31–Nov. 1.

The discussions focused on bilateral relations, joint efforts to combat transnational crimes such as online scams, and the Korean Peninsula issue, according to the South Korean presidential office.

Lee emphasized South Korea’s commitment to its relationship with Thailand, while Charnvirakul highlighted Thailand’s strong interest in developing a strategic partnership with South Korea.

Both leaders agreed to actively promote practical and mutually beneficial cooperation in areas including trade, investment, defense, artificial intelligence, and energy transition.
