GAZIPUR, Oct 28: Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) have dismissed claims that Muhammad Mohebullah Miyaji, khatib of T&T Bazar Jame Mosque in Tongi, was abducted, stating that their investigation found no evidence supporting the allegation.

"The khatib was not abducted," said Mohammad Taherul Haq Chauhan, Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) of GMP, during a press briefing at GMP headquarters on Tuesday regarding the reported abduction and subsequent rescue.
According to police, a case was filed with Tongi East Police Station after a complaint alleged that 60-year-old Mohebullah Miyaji had been abducted on the morning of October 22 while out for a walk.

The complaint claimed that an ambulance intercepted him near Shilmun Exos Link CNG Filling and Conversion Center and four to five unidentified men forced him into the vehicle, blindfolded him and physically assaulted him.
