JU Nationalist Teachers’ Forum elects new committee for 2025

Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit of Nationalist Teachers’ Forum has elected a new executive committee for 2025.

Prof. Md Shamsul Alam was elected President, while Prof. Md Zamal Uddin was named General Secretary.

The results were announced at 4:30 PM on Tuesday by Chief Election Commissioner Prof. Khandaker Mohammad Shariful Huda.

Voting had taken place earlier from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Teachers’ Lounge on campus. A total of 54 teachers cast their votes in a peaceful and festive atmosphere.

The newly elected committee includes five Vice Presidents: Prof. Saleh Ahmad Khan, Prof. Mostafa Nazmul Mansur, Prof. Md Shahadat Hossain, Prof. Mohammad Mamun Hossain, and Prof. Nasreen Sultana.

Three teachers; Prof. Md Zakir Hossain, Prof. Borhan Uddin, and Prof. Mohammad Raihan Sharif, won the positions of Joint Secretary.

Prof. Muhammad Nazrul Islam was appointed Organizing Secretary, with Md Al-Amin Khan serving as Assistant Organizing Secretary.

Other key posts were filled as follows: Treasurer: Prof. Md Monowar Hossain; Office Secretary: Prof. Aminur Rahman Khan; Publicity Secretary: SM Mahmudul Hasan; ICT Secretary: Prof. Md Fazlul Karim Patwari; Sports and Cultural Affairs Secretary: Prof. Mohammad Amir Hossain Bhuiyan; Environment and Research Secretary: Prof. Md Nazrul Islam; Health Affairs Secretary: Prof. Md Abdul Halim; and Women Affairs Secretary: Prof. Shamsun Nahar.

Additionally, 12 executive members were selected: Prof. Md Golam Mostafa, Prof. Md Talim Hossain, Prof. Nahid Akhter, Mrs. Kamrun Nesa Khondaker, Prof. Muhammad Tarek Chowdhury, Prof. Abu Fayez Md Aslam, Prof. AKM Rashidul Alam, Prof. Taslima Nahar, Prof. Mohammad Emadul Huda, Prof. KM Zahidul Islam, Prof. Masum Shahriar, and Prof. Muhammad Shafiqul Islam.

Forum leaders and activists congratulated the new committee, expressing hope that it would strengthen efforts to protect teachers’ rights and promote professional development.

Speaking after his victory, newly elected President Prof. Md Shamsul Alam said, "Teachers participated enthusiastically and peacefully in the election. All candidates accepted the results. We will work unitedly for the welfare of teachers and the advancement of the university."
