The long-awaited policy for the Jagannath University Central Students' Union (JnUCSU) election has finally been approved with the President's signature.

On Monday (October 27), Professor Dr. Mohammad Bilal Hossain, convener of the JnUCSU policy committee, confirmed the development.

He said, "The Honorable President has signed the JnUCSU policy. Once the Election Commission is formed and the election schedule is announced, the official process of JnUCSU will begin. We are optimistic that the election will be held within the scheduled time."

Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim said, "I've heard that the Honorable President has signed it, but we would prefer to comment only after receiving the official document. If everything goes smoothly, we hope to hold the JnUCSU election as planned."

Earlier, on October 13, the amended policy for the Central Students' Union election was finalized at the Ministry of Education. Before that, on October 11, a meeting was held at the ministry to discuss the final draft.

It is worth noting that since Jagannath gained university status, no Central Students' Union election has ever been held. Students have long been demanding the establishment of JnUCSU.

Previously, on October 7, the university administration formed a five-member election preparation committee to ensure a fair and transparent election. On September 17, the administration also published a roadmap for JnUCSU, which was set to be implemented upon policy approval. According to that roadmap, the election is expected to take place on November 27.
