After a disappointing run in recent student union polls at public universities, the National Citizen Party's student wing, Bangladesh Ganatantrik Chhatra Sangsad (BAGCHAS), is shutting down-and rising anew as Chatrashakti.
The national coordination meeting kicks off today, October 23, at Shaheed Abu Sayeed International Convention Center. The press briefing after the meeting will unveil the new name, central and regional committees, and political direction.
The revamped central committee may hold up to 101 members, with Dhaka University marked as a "special branch" and the organization streamlined under a "Super Four" structure in sync with central leadership.
Top posts are being negotiated among BAGCSAS convener Abu Baker Majumder and member secretary Zahid Ahsan, alongside DU branch secretary Mohir Alam, JU branch secretary Siam, central co-spokesperson Fardin Hasan, and DU joint convener Limon Ahsan.
Dhaka University branch leadership discussions include Rifat Rashid, Tahmeed Al Muddassir, Al Amin Sarkar, Mohammad Shakib, and former chief organizer Hasib Al Islam.
"Discipline was broken in BAGCSAS due to intruders," Majumder said. "Sabotage by student-camp affiliates disrupted the organization. Only leaders with pure ideological alignment will stay."
