Three Islamic political parties-Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB), and Khilafat Majlis-held separate rallies in Dhaka on Monday, demanding the legal implementation of the July National Charter, a national referendum, PR system and a fair, impartial electoral process.

Thousands of party workers and supporters from Dhaka Metropolitan City North and South participated along major routes including Mohakhali, Baitul Mukarram, and Cholera Hospital.

At the Jamaat rally, Nayeb-e-Amir Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman addressed the crowd, urging the incorporation of Quranic principles into governance, society, and family life. They criticized successive governments for failing to reflect Quranic law in parliament and highlighted growing public support for Islamic law.

Professor Rahman also pointed to the influence of Islamist-based student victories in recent national policymaking. Jamaat leaders outlined five key demands, including legal recognition of the July Charter, a national referendum by November 2025, and a trial for the July massacre before elections, warning that media and street campaigns would intensify if these were not met.

The IAB organised a rally and protest march in front of Baitul Mukarram, reiterating its demand for a legal basis for the July Charter and a national referendum. Secretary General Maulana Yunus Ahmed emphasized that the people would resist any attempt to revert to a flawed electoral system, stressing the need for proportional representation and an administration free from party influence.

Meanwhile, Khilafat Majlis protested at the National Press Club, echoing similar demands. Senior leaders called for legal implementation of the July Charter, voter participation through referendum, fair elections, appointment of religious teachers in primary schools, and action against fascist political groups.

All three events concluded peacefully with large processions. The Jamaat rally moved from the North Gate of Baitul Mukarram to Bijoynagar and Kakrail, while the IAB and Khilafat Majlis rallies proceeded to the National Press Club, drawing participation from party functionaries and local leaders. Security forces ensured no significant violence occurred.

Collectively, the parties warned that protests and public campaigns would intensify if the interim government failed to ensure impartial administration and credible elections. Leaders urged supporters to retain traditional symbols such as the beard and turban as expressions of political and social assertiveness.

The rallies underscore growing pressure on the interim government to legally implement the July Charter, hold referendums, and ensure fair elections, with all three parties demanding administrative impartiality, accountability, and public participation in the national process.
