Train accident claims life of Bagerhat farmer

A farmer died after being struck by a train in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat district on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Niyam Mina, 55, a resident of Bhattkhamar village in the upazila.

According to locals, the incident occurred in the Bhattkhamar area on the Khulna-Mongla railway line when Mina was standing near Bridge No. 18 along with three others. When the train approached, three of them got down, but Mina tried to run across the bridge. At that moment he was hit by the train while crossing the bridge and died on the spot.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

Mongla Railway Station Master SM Monir Ahmed confirmed the incident.
