Girl commits suicide after failing HSC examination

AMTALI, BARGUNA, Oct 17: A candidate named Nusrat Jahan Naznin, 18, has committed suicide due to poor result in the HSC examination.

The incident occurred at her elder sister's rented house in the Bangla Bazar area of Barishal on Thursday.

OC (Investigation) Md. Mizanur Rahman of Barishal Sadar Police Station said that, preliminarily, it is suspected that she committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope. After completing the inquest report, the body has been sent to the morgue for an autopsy.

Naznin was the second daughter of the late Bashir Mridha of Uttar Raogha Village, Ward No. 1, Holdia Union, Amtali Upazila, Barguna.

According to family sources, she lived with her elder sister Nasrin, a nurse at Rahat Anwar Hospital, in a rented house in the Bangla Bazar area of Barishal. She was a Science Department student of Barishal Model School and College under the Barishal Education Board for the 2023/24 academic year.

After the HSC results were announced on Thursday, Nusrat Jahan Naznin, reportedly upset at failing the Mathematics MCQ section, committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope.
