LALMOHAN, BHOLA, Oct 17: Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, a member of BNP's Standing Committee and former MP of Bhola-3 Constituency, on Friday said, people will not accept the PR (proportional representation) system in election.
He said that the current government has announced the date for the national parliamentary election in the first half of February. Since the announcement of the election date, several political parties with no support have become panicked. They have started making various absurd demands to disrupt or delay the election. One of these is the demand for an election under the PR system. In this PR system election, people will vote for the symbol, not the candidate. As a result, people will not be able to elect the person of their choice. Therefore, the people will not accept this PR system in election.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at a meeting with teachers and employees of various Alia Madrasas, which was held on the ground of Islamia Kamil Madrasa in Lalmohan Upazila of Bhola District, organized by the Lalmohan Upazila and Municipality BNP on Friday morning.
Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said that Awami League (AL) has laundered the hard-earned money sent by expatriates abroad. The only work of Awami League is to plunder the country's wealth and launder it abroad. To prevent anyone from protesting against these misdeeds of AL, they started a massive killing spree in the country. The AL has broken the backbone of this country through murder, enforced disappearance, and looting. Besides, the mafia government Awami League has always worked to protect the interests of India.
The meeting was chaired by Maulana Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, Principal of Lalmohan Islamia Kamil Madrasa, and conducted by Maulana Md. Hossain, Senior Vice-President of the Municipality Nationalist Olama Dal. Present at the meeting were Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, President of Upazila BNP, Shafiqul Islam Babul, General Secretary, Sadek Mia Jantu, President of Municipality BNP, Kamruzzaman Babul Patwari, General Secretary, along with leaders and workers of the upazila, municipality, and associate organizations.
