Shibir leads in VP, AGS posts in five RU halls, Ammar ahead in GS race

Vote counting has ended at five halls of Rajshahi University — Munnujan Hall, Rokeya Hall, Taposhi Rabeya Hall, Khaleda Zia Hall, and Rahmatunnesa Hall — for the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RACSU) election. Shibir-backed candidates are leading the Vice President (VP) and Assistant General Secretary (AGS) races by a wide margin. Meanwhile, the General Secretary (GS) post sees dominance from the ‘Anti-Hegemony Alliance’ panel.

As of 1:15 a.m. on Thursday (October 16), results show that Shibir-supported Samonnito Shikkharthi Jot candidate Mostakur Rahman Zahid is leading in the VP race with 3,312 votes. His nearest rival, Sheikh Nur Uddin Abir of the BNP-backed Oikyoboddho Notun Projonmo panel, secured 906 votes.

For the GS post, Salauddin Ammar from the ‘Anti-Hegemony Alliance’ panel leads with 2,851 votes, followed by Shibir-backed candidate Fazle Rabbi Md Fahim Reza with 1,641 votes. Nafiwul Islam Jibon of the BNP-backed panel received 359 votes.

In the AGS race, SM Salman Sabbir from the Shibir-backed panel has taken the lead with 1,771 votes, while his closest competitor, Jahin Biswas Esha from the BNP-backed panel, got 1,334 votes.
