The National Consensus Commission (NCC) on Thursday invited former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to attend the July National Charter signing ceremony.
On behalf of the Commission's President and Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, members Dr Badiul Alam Majumder and Monir Haider handed over the invitation letter to Begum Khaleda Zia, who is currently admitted to Evercare Hospital.
BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed this information to the Daily Observer. He said the invitation letter for BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was received by Chairperson's Private Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar.
BNP Standing Committee Member Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain was also present during the visit.
After handing over the card, Dr Badiul Alam Majumder told reporters that he had delivered the invitation letter to the former Prime Minister on behalf of Dr Muhammad Yunus. He said, "On behalf of the Honorable President of the National Consensus Commission Dr Muhammad Yunus, we came to invite Khaleda Zia to the signing ceremony of the National Charter tomorrow."
"We greeted her and wished her good health. The Chief Adviser also wished her a speedy recovery," he said.
