A housewife died after committing suicide after consuming rat poison at Nandigram upazila in Bogura district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Protima Rani, 32, wife of Sukumar Chandra Roy of Hazaruki village under Burail union in the upazila.
According to locals, Protima Rani ingested the poison in her bedroom on Wednesday afternoon without the family’s knowledge.
Later, discovering her struggling, family members rushed her to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.
Nandigram Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Foyem Uddin confirmed the death and said that an unnatural death (UD) case has been filed with Bogura Sadar Police Station.
The body was handed over to her family on Thursday after a post-mortem examination, added the OC.
