Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU), Hall Union and Senate Student Representative elections was held in a peaceful and fair manner, according to the university’s Election Observation Team, which monitored the entire voting process.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday evening at Vice-Chancellor’s conference room, the team’s chairman, Professor Rafiqul Islam, stated, “From the start of voting, we visited every polling centre and spoke to voters and polling officials. Based on our findings, we’ve submitted a written report to the Registrar, confirming that the election was conducted smoothly and without unrest.”
Professor Islam further noted that no complaints of vote rigging were received from agents or voters.
However, he acknowledged some administrative shortcomings, especially in polling centres with a large number of voters.
“There were delays in some halls due to high voter turnout and limited logistical capacity. The overall management could have been stronger,” he said.
He also pointed out that the ballot boxes lacked privacy, as their transparent design made it possible to see the votes inside.
Despite these flaws, he affirmed that the election was participatory and peaceful.
Other members of the observation team were also present during the press conference.
