The court has barred former Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) chief AFM Shahinul Islam and his wife, Suma Islam, from leaving the country amid ongoing corruption investigations.

The order was issued on Thursday by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabbir Foyez following an application from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). ACC public relations officer Aktarul Islam confirmed the directive.

ACC Assistant Director Russel Rony told the court that Shahinul is under investigation for alleged abuse of power, irregularities, and accumulation of illegal assets, including suspected foreign money transfers.
Reliable sources indicated that Shahinul and his family were attempting to leave the country. The travel ban has been imposed to ensure a thorough and uninterrupted investigation.
