Bangladesh Bank has directed all scheduled banks to keep relevant branches and sub-branches open on Saturday (October 18) to facilitate Hajj-related activities.

In a circular issued on Thursday, the central bank instructed banks to ensure uninterrupted acceptance of Hajj registration deposits from intending pilgrims.

Banks must continue accepting payments as long as depositors are present at the branches.

To support this extended service, banks have also been asked to ensure adequate security measures at the designated branches during operating hours.

The directive was issued under Section 45 of the Banking Companies Act, 1991, as part of the central bank's efforts to ensure smooth Hajj management.
