Voting in the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU), Hall Union and Senate Student Representative elections has concluded. Preparations are now underway for ballot counting, which will take place at Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium.
Election Commissioner Mostafa Kamal Akand confirmed that ballot boxes are being transported under police escort to the counting center using official vehicles.
Once all ballot papers arrive and are sorted, the counting process will begin.
However, he did not specify an exact time for when counting will start.
According to Election Commission’s plan, results from the women's halls will be announced first, followed by the men’s halls.
The RUCSU central election results will be announced last.
The voting process began at 9:00 AM and continued uninterrupted until 4:00 PM.
This marks the first RUCSU election in 35 years; a significant event for the student community at Rajshahi University.
A total of 28,901 students were registered to vote in this historic election.
Across RUCSU, Hall Union and Senate Student Representative contests, 860 candidates competed.
To maintain law and order throughout the election, approximately 2,000 police personnel, 6 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and 12 platoons of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were deployed on campus.
