Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar has said that the interim government is working on the demands of teachers.

"The house rent issue is a sensitive issue. The government is working on this issue. We believe that with the recommendations of the new pay commission, we will be able to ensure a more favorable pay structure next year," the adviser made this hope at a press briefing held on HSC results at the Secretariat.

Rafiqul Abrar added,''Teachers are the lifeblood of our education system. I have been vocal in favor of increasing the salaries, training and status of teachers since the beginning. My colleagues in the advisery committee are also sympathetic to this issue. Currently, teachers' organizations have made several demands, including a percentage-based increase in house rent by 20 per cent. Five per cent according to the government's financial reality. The minimum of Tk 2000 is still under discussion.''

Education Secretary Rehana Parveen said, "We have sent a letter regarding the issue to the Finance Ministry and are working on it every moment. You know that the Finance Adviser and Secretary are out of the country. Still, we are working whole day.''
