Security strengthen around US Embassy following possible attack threat

Security has been strengthen around the US Embassy in Dhaka following specific intelligence about a possible militant attack.

SWAT team of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) was also deployed on Monday night. They are specially trained for high-risk operations and are equipped with advanced weapons.

According to police said the security has been intensified after receiving credible information about a possible attack.

''We were not given detailed information about the nature of the threat,'' said Masud Alam, Assistant Commissioner (AC) of DMP’s Gulshan Division.

A police intelligence unit has reportedly obtained photos of three suspected individuals believed to be linked to the potential attack. Based on this information, the Special Branch (SB) of the police sent a confidential letter to the DMP commissioner.
