MYMENSINGH, Oct 13: The Mymensingh district administration has revoked the publication declarations of 11 local newspapers after finding identical reports printed on their second and third pages.
Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Umme Habiba Meera confirmed the move on Monday.
The affected newspapers are: Dainik Ajker Mymensingh (Md Shamsul Alam Khan), Dainik Desher Khobor (FMA Salam), Dainik Bishwer Mukhpotro (NBM Ibrahim Khalil Rahim), Dainik Ishika (late Abdur Razzak Talukder), Dainik Adommo Bangla (Nasir Uddin Ahmed), Dainik Alokito Mymensingh, Dainik Digonto Bangla (ANM Faruk), Dainik Jahan (Sheikh Mehedi Hasan Nadim), Dainik Kishaner Desh (Omar Faruk), Hridoye Bangladesh (Farida Yasmin Ratna), and the weekly Poridhi (Bikash Roy).
ADM Meera said that between March 30 and April 13, the papers repeatedly carried identical content, prompting legal action. Letters were sent to editors and publishers on Thursday notifying them of the decision.
The letters noted that on April 10 and 13, all 11 newspapers printed identical reports and photographs on their 2nd and 3rd pages, and these issues were not printed from authorized presses.
Show-cause notices issued on April 16 led the editors to admit the mistake, citing external printing presses and temporary technical problems. However, the explanations were deemed "unsatisfactory and unacceptable."
