Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz expressed frustration over his team's dismal batting performance after their crushing 81-run defeat to Afghanistan in the second ODI at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Despite another disciplined bowling display that saw Afghanistan dismissed for just 190 in 44.5 overs, Bangladesh failed to mount a proper chase and were bowled out for a paltry 109 in only 28.3 overs.

The loss handed Afghanistan an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

"We bowled really well. This was a chaseable total," Miraz said during the post-match presentation. "But our batting was very poor. No batter took responsibility. We are really disappointed."

Miraz highlighted the lack of partnerships; particularly at the top of the order, as a key reason behind their batting collapse.

Bangladesh’s highest stand in the match was just 29 runs, shared between Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali Anik for the fifth wicket.

"We needed partnerships up top," Miraz added. "Had we gotten that, the scenario could have been different. But again, no one stepped up and that cost us the match."

With one game remaining in the series, the skipper urged his side to regroup and avoid a clean sweep.

"We still have one match left. We must bounce back. The batters need to step up and take responsibility," he concluded.
