3 held with firearms, ammunition in Ctg

Three individuals were arrested with a huge amount of firearms from Chattogram district on Friday.

The arrested are Md Belal, 28, Hridoy Barua, 30 and Md Azad, 23. They all are top criminals.

According to police, a team of officials led by CMP Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Amirul Islam conducted a drive with the assistance of SWAT teams at various locations from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning and arrested the trio with a huge amount of arms, ammunition and drugs.

CMP seized a total of thirteen firearms, including five foreign pistols, one foreign single-barrelled short gun, two foreign single-barrelled long guns, two locally-made short gun-like pipe guns, one locally-made short shooter gun and two locally-made single-barrelled long guns from their possessions.

Additionally, they also recovered 58 live gun cartridges, two shells, 13 pistol magazines, 95 pistol bullets, nine firecrackers, Tk 420,000 in cash, a money-counting machine, two walkie-talkies, a drone, seven CCTV cameras, two DVRs, two drill machines, an electric cutter, a rod cutter blade, a knife, four wrenches of different sizes, a monitor, two pliers, a tip knife, 12 iron rods of different sizes, 3,500 pieces of Yaba pills, 5.5 kg of hemp and a motorcycle.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) confirmed the incident through a press release and they also added that at least 30 miscreants, including top terrorists Shahidul Islam and Ayub Ali, managed to escape upon sensing police’s presence.
