12 hackers held in Natore

Joint forces have arrested twelve hackers and seized 20 mobile phones that were reportedly used in cyber forgery from Lalpur upazila in Natore district on Thursday.

The arrested, Nazmul Hassan Ashik Malitha, Wabaidur Ali, Md Ekhlas Mondal, Md Razu Ahmed, Maruf Hassan, Ariful Islam, Rasel Ahmed, Rubel Sardar, Md Sohag Ali, Moon Ahmed, Tutul Ali and Ahmed Ali Sabbir; all are residents of Lalpur Upazila.

According to police, the arrested had long been involved in online financial fraud and forgery through popular messaging apps Imo and WhatsApp.

Police said all 12 suspects were handed over to local authorities following their arrest.

Natore district police Detective Branch (DB) officer-in-charge (OC) Habibullah Habib confirmed the incident and said that legal action has been initiated against the accused under the Cyber Security Act.
