2 children drown in Nilphamari river

Two children died after drowning in the Charalkata river at Jaldhaka upazila in Nilphamari district on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased were Hasan Ali, 8, son of Atiar Rahman of Pasaripara village under Khutamara union and his cousin Masum Hossain, 10, son of Hridoy Hossain of Manushmara village of Kachukata union in Sadar upazila.

According to locals, the incident took place in Battali area of Khutamara union of the upazila. Three children were playing on the bank of the river at around 1 PM. At that time, suddenly Hasan and Masum fell into the river and drowned.
Being informed, members of Jaldhaka fire brigade rushed to the spot and recovered their bodies.

Jaldhaka Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Arju Mohammed Sajjad Hossain confirmed the incident.
