A trader was killed after being shot by assailants at Sadar upazila in Khulna district on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Imran Munshi, 35, son of Babul Munshi, a resident of Munshipara in the district. Imran was an active member of Khulna's top criminal, "Grenade Babu", and also a sand-bricks trader.

According to locals, Imran was walking towards Notun Bazar at around 7:45 PM when three assailants stopped him, placed a pistol to his head and shot him to death near the Custom Ghat area’s Gate-2. He died instantly at the spot.
Later, locals recovered his body and rushed him to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Khulna Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Abdul Hai confirmed the incident and said that police are trying to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.

It is believed he was murdered by members of a rival top criminal gang named "Palash Group".
