Chief Organizer of Jatiya Nagorik Committee (NCC) for the northern region, Sarjis Alam, has alleged that several advisers are exploring ways to secure a “safe exit” through the upcoming election.

Speaking to reporters on Monday afternoon at Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce auditorium, Sarjis said, “A few advisers are thinking about how they can quietly and gracefully exit through the election process. But slipping away like that is not an honorable way out.”

He added, “There is no scope for conducting Awami League-style politics in Bangladesh anymore. The party’s registration, symbol, and political legitimacy must all be revoked. Otherwise, students and citizens will once again take to the streets as before.”

Sarjis further stated that he believes the Chief Adviser will not align himself with any political party. “The people placed their trust not in the advisory council, but in him personally,” he noted.

He also mentioned that if the legal framework for July Charter is finalized and the verdicts against those responsible for July Movement killings are delivered by February, NCC would have no objection to participating in the election as scheduled.

Earlier, Sarjis attended a coordination meeting of the NCC’s Rajshahi district and city committees as the chief guest. The meeting began at 4:30 PM with discussions among district leaders on internal organizational matters, followed by a city committee coordination session at 5:30 PM.

Among others, several NCP leaders and activists were present.
