UP Chairman dies in Moulvibazar lightning strike

A Union Parishad (UP) acting chairman died after being struck by lightning at Kamolganj upazila in Moulvibazar district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Fazlur Rahman, a resident of Mokabil village under Islampur union in the upazila. He was also an acting chairman of Islampur Union Parishad in the upazila.

According to locals, Fazlur went to cut grass in the paddy field when there was heavy rain and lightning.

Suddenly, he was struck by lightning and died on the spot.

Later, family members searched for him, found his body lying in the field and recovered it from the spot.

Kamolganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Makhan Chandra Sutradhar confirmed the death.
