The National Citizen Party (NCP) held a high-level discussion with the Bangladesh Khilafat Andolan on contemporary political issues focusing on the legal foundation of the July Charter and the formation of a broader political understanding against hegemony and authoritarian dominance.
The meeting took place at the central office of the Bangladesh Khilafat Andolan in Kamrangirchar, Dhaka on Saturday evening and was later disclosed through an official statement published on the NCP's verified Facebook page on Sunday.
Senior Joint Convener and Political Liaison Chief Ariful Islam Adeeb and included Joint Conveners Dr Atiq Mujahid and Maulana Ashraf Uddin Mahdi along with Organiser Sanaullah Khan led the NCP delegation. Ameer Maulana Habibullah Miyaji and Joint Secretary General Maulana Yusuf Sadiq Haqqani, Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Saidur Rahman, Maulana Mujibur Rahman Hamidi, Joint Secretary General Maulana Sanaullah Hafezzi, Organising Secretary Mufti Sultan Mohiuddin, Publicity Secretary Maulana Saiful Islam Sunamganji and Education Secretary Mufti Ilias Madaripuri headed the Khilafat Movement delegation among others.

During the meeting, both parties reached a broad consensus on several crucial political and legal issues including the recognition of the July Charter as a legitimate framework for democratic and constitutional reform, the introduction of a proportional representation (PR) system in the upper house and the demand for legal proceedings against the Awami League for its alleged involvement in the July and the Shapla massacres.
The two sides also agreed on the necessity of suspending the activities of the 14-party alliance including the Jatiya Party as part of a broader political restructuring aimed at dismantling hegemonic control.
The discussions further emphasised the importance of building a united front to safeguard Bangladesh's independence, sovereignty and human rights. "We believe political unity based on justice and constitutional legitimacy is essential to resist all forms of domination," the statement read reflecting a shared commitment to lawful and people-oriented politics.
Both parties expressed optimism about continuing strategic dialogue to strengthen their cooperation against authoritarianism and to establish a political environment rooted in accountability, democracy and national interest.
