A man died after falling from an under-construction 10-storey building’s roof at Rupkotha intersection on Shah Abdul Karim Road in Jashore district on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Sajjadul Islam, 22, son of Azgar Hossain from Dewara Mathbaria village in Jashore Sadar upazila.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred at around 2:30 PM while he was working on the roof of the building. Suddenly Sajjadul reportedly fell from the 10th floor, suffering a fractured skull and broken legs.
Later, locals rushed him to Jessore General Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Workers alleged that since the incident, the company's officials—including site manager Mithun—have gone into hiding and have not contacted the workers or Sajjadul's family. Repeated calls to Mahbub Hossain, the foreman of the construction company, went unanswered.
Jashore Kotwali Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Ahsan Habib confirmed the incident and said that an unnatural death case has been filed.
