National Citizen Party (NCP) Northern Region Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam issued an open challenge to his critics declaring that he will resign from all types of politics if anyone can prove financial irregularities involving even a single taka against him in the past year.

He made this announcement while addressing a coordination meeting on mosque, temple, Eidgah and road renovation projects at the NCP upazila office in Atwari of Panchagarh district on Saturday evening.

"As a child of Atwari upazila, I could never have imagined that Allah Almighty would grant me such great honour and responsibility before my death," Sarjis Alam said. "What Allah has given me is more than I could have imagined. Now my duty is to protect this trust fairly and honestly. Still, many people spread propaganda. I am giving them a clear challenge - if anyone can prove corruption of even one taka against me in the last one year and one month, I will resign from all forms of politics."

He emphasized that development, not division, should define the political landscape of Atwari. "No one will ever stop any good work," he said. "Be it a one-kilometer paved road, a mosque, or a temple, these institutions will benefit our neighbours and future generations. If the NCP and other parties can all contribute positively, only then will overall development be possible. This place is not about violence, it is about who can do more good work." He urged people to abandon hatred and engage in constructive initiatives for the collective advancement of the upazila.

According to sources, Sarjis Alam played a pivotal role in facilitating the submission of applications to the Ministry of Local Government for the renovation of religious and infrastructural sites across Atwari.
