Two individuals died from separate snakebites at Bholahat upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Md Azizul Haque, 48, son of late Muslim Ali of Kharobatra village under Sadar union in the upazila and Md Ranaul Islam, 31, son of Md Awkat Ali of Alalpur Camp Para of the same union.

The individual undergoing treatment at RMCH is Anarul Islam (55), son of late Abdus Salam of Hossenbhita village.

According to locals, Azizul was bitten by a snake while washing his hands and feet after finishing work in a paddy field at around 11 AM on Saturday.

Later, he was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) where he died while under treatment on Sunday.

In a separate incident, Ranaul was bitten by a snake early Sunday and died on his way to RMCH.

Bholahat Union Parishad (UP) Panel Chairman Md Azizur Rahman confirmed those incidents and expressed his concern about the shortage of Health Complex’s antivenom.

However, Chapainawabganj District Civil Surgeon Dr A K M Shahab Uddin countered this statement and said that every upazila health complex has an adequate supply of antivenom.
