2 electrocuted in Rampal power plant army camp

Two youths died from electrocution at a temporary army camp set in Rampal Thermal Power Plant in Bagerhat district on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at around 11:30 AM on Sunday on the camp located inside the Rampal coal-based power plant.

The deceased were identified as Md Arif Hasan, 27, an army soldier and Hasib Khan, 19, an employee appointed via a private company.
According to police, Hasib got entangled with an electric wire while bringing dry clothes from the camp's roof and got electrocuted. Seeing Hasib's struggle to survive, Arif rushed there and tried to rescue him only to also being electrocuted.

Later, both were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared both of them dead.

Rampal Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Atikur Rahman confirmed the incident and said that legal action will be taken if any complaint is submitted.
