For the first time in the country's sporting history, the Private University Bodybuilding Competition was held on Saturday at the National Sports Council Auditorium in Dhaka. The event was jointly organised by the Bangladesh Bodybuilding Federation and the Private University National Association of Bangladesh (PUNAB).
The competition aimed to inspire students from private universities towards physical fitness, discipline, and a sporting mindset. With the motto "Unity, Mobilising, and Progress," PUNAB continues to promote healthy and active lifestyles among young people, believing that such initiatives will help build a fitter and stronger nation.
Nearly a hundred contestants from different private universities took part in the debut event, competing across four categories, Men's Physique, Open Bodybuilding (60 kg, 65+, 70 and 70+ kg), and Open Dennis Jeans.
In the 166 cm and 70 kg category, Syed Monjur claimed the top spot. Fuad Siam made a double triumph, securing first place in both the Open Dennis Jeans and Open Bodybuilding events. Sachin took the honours in the Men's Physique (70+ kg) category, while Saim Khan Tushar from the University of Asia Pacific earned three podium finishes across Men's Physique and Open Bodybuilding events.
The award ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including freedom fighter M.A. Malek, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Habibur Rahman, Ria Group Chairman Md. Robiul Alam Ruhin, Fitlife-BD founder Abu Sufian Taj, and Bangladesh Bodybuilding Federation General Secretary Dr Kamruzzaman.
Prize money was awarded to three top medalists across all categories. The event was coordinated under the supervision of PUNAB's Senior Vice President Asif Mohammad Bin Alam, also the founder of FitSelf BD.
This pioneering competition marks a new chapter for campus-based fitness and bodybuilding culture in Bangladesh's private universities.
